Biologist and self-confessed thrill seeker, Patrick Aryee, has always had a fascination with ‘how things work’. His guiding force, allowing audiences to travel the globe from the comfort of their sofa and live vicariously through his daringly close animal encounters. From coming face-to-face with Komodo dragons, to free-diving with gigantic sperm whales, he’s seen it all.
Patrick’s career began after graduating with a degree in Cancer Biology (University of Bristol) and a master’s in Science Communication (UWE). Working at the world-renowned BBC Natural History Unit and thriving in the creative atmosphere of television, he was asked to present the BBC’s first online wildlife series Zoo-La-La; a weekly show about weird and wonderful animal facts which launched BBC Earth’s YouTube channel, Earth Unplugged.
He eventually landed his first BBC TV series ‘Super Senses: The Secret Power of Animals’ exploring the extraordinary world of animal senses. Seeing the passion with which he communicates complex biological stories, Sky One commissioned him to host a collection of 17 programmes across six series. The first of which, ‘Big Cats: An Amazing Animal Family’, won Patrick the RTS West Award for Best Presenter.
Patrick is currently developing new ideas for Instagram TV and Facebook Watch.
